In a little over a month, the Original Audio team heads west to Perth for State of Social, our favourite two days in the marketing calendar. And this one is personal: State of Social is where Original Audio was born. It's where I first met my co-founder, Adam, backstage.
Now in its ninth year, Meg Coffey has built something genuinely special. Day one is about firing up your imagination, keynotes and breakouts from the industry's trailblazers, packed with the hottest of hot takes. Day two is about honing your skills, deep-dive sessions and practical lessons across strategy, creativity, technology and more. The level of detail across the whole event is off the scale.
Back in 2024, State of Social became the first marketing conference in Australia to have its own sonic logo, which we created, giving the event a recognisable audio identity to match its visual one. It's been part of the event's promotion, and the event itself, ever since.
That's exactly the argument we make to brands every day: you already know how you look, an audience should be able to recognise you with their eyes closed too. A conference that lives and breathes marketing adopting sonic branding before most brands have? That tells you something about the calibre of the event.
The sound doesn't stop at the logo. We help craft the original audio for the entire event, from playlist curation to speaker walk-up songs to the openers and closers that bookend each day. It's a genuinely multi-sensory experience.
Here's the opener from last year's event, the moment the lights drop and two days of State of Social get underway. The video was produced by Studio Orange; we looked after the audio, including the music curation.
Back in 2025, our co-founder Adam Johnson appeared on the Hard Refresh podcast series, talking all things audio. You can listen here:
It's always a great couple of days with great people, and we're delighted to be back again this year looking after the soundtrack. Did I mention there are puppies?
If you're heading to State of Social '26, come and say hi, and keep an ear out. The soundtrack is all part of the show.
